Check it records the four things the figures need

A source and a date per applicant, a stage with the date it changed, an outcome per interview and offer, and the fee terms on a client if you are an agency. Without those four, cost per hire, time to hire and conversion cannot be produced by any amount of automation.

What is the difference between an ATS and recruitment automation?

The ATS is the record: applicants against reqs with stages and dates. Automation is what runs on top of it, moving applicants between stages, sending acknowledgements and booking interviews. You cannot usefully have the second without the first.

Will automation reduce cost per hire?

It reduces the internal half, the hours, which is a third of the total on the worked example. It does nothing to agency fees, which are 54%. That is why the agency fee sheet matters more than most automation for most small desks.

Do I need AI screening?

That is a decision with legal and fairness dimensions this site does not advise on. What we would say is measure your applicant-to-screen ratio first: if 20% of applicants are worth a screen, the problem may be where the advert ran rather than how fast you can read them.
